I started my design career by drawing girls on the edges of my school notes and dressing them. I learned to sew in Junior High, and got out of PE by fixing the teacher's sweats! In High School (John Dewey, Brooklyn, NY) I was encouraged in fashion design, illustration and sewing. My teachers were amazing and industry professionals. They encouraged me to attend FIT. Unfortunately, before I finished college, I moved to San Fransisco. I worked in the millinery industry as a rep for many years. A fortuitous move into a fat-postive household brought me back to design. Big Daddy Boxers was born. I sold boxers at local fat events to start, to a local Bear shop, at Folsom St. Fair, NoLose and the Michigan Women's Music Festival. With the help of Motherwit Web Design, I started a website. When I moved back to to New York, I changed the name to Big Boxers of Brooklyn. I continued to sew and sell boxers far and wide. During the time, I realized that I wanted more of a design challenge, and more femme clothes in my life. Size Queen "when large is not big enough"TM came into being.
I'm also planning to explore eco, organic and bamboo fabrics. I am thrilled to be in Portland at my first storefront studio space.
